53 Years Since the Discovery of Ngoc Linh Ginseng: Enhancing Quality, Development, and Elevating the National Product Brand
On March 27, 2026, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) organized a scientific conference entitled “53 Years Since the Discovery of Ngoc Linh Ginseng: Enhancing Quality, Development, and Elevating the National Product Brand.” The event provided an opportunity to reflect on more than half a century of research and development of Ngoc Linh ginseng—a precious medicinal herb regarded as a “national treasure” of Vietnam—while also updating the latest scientific findings on its bioactive compounds and pharmacological values.
At the conference, numerous updated research results were presented, helping to clarify key issues such as quality standardization, testing methods, identification, and differentiation of Ngoc Linh ginseng from other ginseng varieties in order to minimize confusion and counterfeiting. In this context, the role of science and technology has become pivotal. Studies on authentication, quality control, and product development not only enhance economic value but also contribute to safeguarding the reputation and positioning of Ngoc Linh ginseng in both domestic and international markets.
Beyond academic exchange, the conference also marked an important milestone in research collaboration, as TDTU signed agreements with industry partners to implement research projects, product development, and technology transfer related to Ngoc Linh ginseng. These collaborative programs are expected to be large in scale, with the participation of strong research groups from the University’s Faculty of Pharmacy.
The collaboration among TDTU, Quang Ngai Province, and enterprises clearly reflects the “triple helix” model—government, academia, and industry—and represents a concrete step in promoting the role of universities in line with Resolution 57. It aims to foster scientific and technological breakthroughs while strengthening connections between researchers, businesses, and local authorities
