Scientific Seminar: “53 Years Since the Discovery of Ngoc Linh Ginseng – Enhancing Quality, Development, and Elevating the Brand of a National Product”

On March 27, 2026, Ton Duc Thang University organized a scientific seminar entitled “53 Years Since the Discovery of Ngoc Linh Ginseng – Enhancing Quality, Development, and Elevating the Brand of a National Product.” The event provided an opportunity to reflect on more than half a century of research and development of Ngoc Linh Ginseng, a precious medicinal herb widely regarded as a national treasure of Vietnam, while also presenting the latest scientific findings on its bioactive compounds and pharmacological properties.

At the seminar, numerous updated research results were presented, contributing to a better understanding of quality standardization, testing methods, identification, and differentiation of Ngoc Linh Ginseng from other ginseng species in order to minimize misidentification and counterfeiting. In this context, the role of science and technology has become increasingly important. Research on authentication, quality control, and product development not only helps enhance the economic value of Ngoc Linh Ginseng but also strengthens its reputation and position in both domestic and international markets.

Beyond academic discussions, the seminar also marked a significant milestone in research collaboration, as TDTU signed cooperation agreements with industry partners to implement research, development, and technology transfer projects related to Ngoc Linh Ginseng. These collaborative programs are expected to be large in scale, with the participation of leading research groups from the University’s Faculty of Pharmacy.

The collaboration among TDTU, Quang Ngai Province, and industry partners clearly demonstrates the “triple helix” model involving government, academia, and industry. It also represents a concrete step toward fulfilling the role of a modern university in line with Resolution 57, promoting breakthroughs in science and technology while strengthening connections among researchers, businesses, and local communities.
