TDTU Faculty of Pharmacy Launches the 2026 Green Summer Volunteer Campaign in Giong Trom Commune, Vinh Long Province

As part of the 2026 Green Summer Volunteer Campaign, the Faculty of Pharmacy – Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) organized a series of volunteer activities in Giong Trom Commune, Vinh Long Province, with the participation of the Campaign Command and 36 volunteers. Under the theme “Nurturing Green Seeds – Gathering Summer Sunshine,” the campaign featured various meaningful activities focusing on environmental protection, social welfare, community healthcare, and traditional education.

The campaign officially commenced with a welcoming ceremony for the 36 volunteers, attended by representatives of the local authorities, Giong Trom Commune Youth Union, Binh Thanh 1 Primary School, and the Faculty of Pharmacy, TDTU. The ceremony marked the beginning of the volunteer journey, demonstrating the students’ enthusiasm, sense of responsibility, and commitment to contributing their knowledge and energy to the local community.

One of the campaign’s highlights was the youth project “Nurturing Green Seeds,” through which the volunteers planted 30 trees across Giong Trom Commune, contributing to greener landscapes and a cleaner, more sustainable environment. In addition, the “Green Volunteer Day” featured practical activities such as cleaning public areas, collecting litter, and improving local roads and communal spaces, thereby promoting environmental awareness and a greener lifestyle within the community.

On the occasion of the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (July 27, 1947 – July 27, 2026), the Campaign Command and volunteers organized the “July Tribute” activity and offered incense in commemoration of heroic martyrs at the Martyrs’ Memorial Temple in Binh Dong Hamlet, Giong Trom Commune. The activity expressed gratitude to previous generations who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s independence and freedom, while also fostering patriotism, historical awareness, and a sense of responsibility among students.

As part of its social welfare activities, the Faculty of Pharmacy, TDTU, collaborated with the Engineering Division 2 Youth Union Branch to present 10 gift packages to policy beneficiary families and people with meritorious services to the nation. Another 50 gift packages were presented to pupils of Binh Thanh 1 Primary School through the “For Our Beloved Children” activity. Through the “Medicine Bags of Love” initiative, the campaign also donated five first-aid kits to the Giong Trom Commune Youth Union, Binh Thanh 1 Primary School, and the Commune Health Station, providing essential medical supplies to support basic healthcare and first-aid needs in the local community.

Drawing on the professional knowledge of pharmacy students, the campaign also organized the “Young Pharmacists for Community Health” program at Binh Thanh 1 Primary School, focusing on dengue fever prevention and control. The program was supported by Mr. Tran Nhat Truong, a staff member of the Giong Trom Area Health Station. Participants were provided with practical information on the risks of dengue fever, measures to eliminate mosquito breeding sites, environmental sanitation, early recognition of warning signs, and proactive disease prevention. The activity highlighted the role of pharmacy students in health communication and education while contributing to greater awareness of disease prevention within the community.

Alongside community projects and professional activities, the “Flame from the Mainland” program featured a traditional campfire-lighting ceremony, group activities, and cultural performances. The program provided an opportunity for volunteers to strengthen their bonds, foster solidarity, and renew their enthusiasm for community service.

Following their activities in the locality, the Campaign Command and volunteers of the provincial campaign site from the Faculty of Pharmacy, TDTU, were recognized and commended for their positive contributions to the 2026 Green Summer Volunteer Campaign. The recognition acknowledged the responsibility, enthusiasm, and dedication demonstrated by the Campaign Command and all 36 volunteers in carrying out meaningful projects and activities for the community.

After two days and one night, the provincial activities of the Faculty of Pharmacy’s 2026 Green Summer Volunteer Campaign in Giong Trom Commune officially came to a close. Despite its short duration, the journey left a meaningful impact through activities in environmental protection, social welfare, community healthcare, and traditional education.

The Faculty of Pharmacy – Ton Duc Thang University sincerely extends its appreciation to the Party Committee, People’s Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Giong Trom Commune, Giong Trom Commune Youth Union, the local Health Station, Binh Thanh 1 Primary School, relevant organizations, and local residents for their valuable support and cooperation throughout the campaign.

Although the campaign has concluded, its spirit of volunteerism, social responsibility, and the meaningful values embodied in the journey of “Nurturing Green Seeds – Gathering Summer Sunshine” will continue to inspire the youth of the Faculty of Pharmacy, TDTU, in their future community service activities.
