Academic Exchange Highlights – October 2025

To expand international collaboration and showcase Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) to global partners, the Faculty of Pharmacy organized a series of academic exchange programs throughout October 2025. The activities included short-term (3 days – 2 weeks) and long-term (2 months) courses hosted at the Tan Hung Campus, Ho Chi Minh City.

Exchange Program Overview

The “Let’s Go to TDTU – October 2025” program welcomed students and lecturers from three Southeast Asian universities:

  • Hasanuddin University (Indonesia) – October 1–14, 2025
Prof. Yulia Yusrini Djabir, Prof. Aryadi Arsyad, and two international students.
  • Puthisastra University (Cambodia) – October 1–November 30, 2025
Mr. Be Sokkeang, MSc., and nine international students.
  • Trinity University of Asia (Philippines) – October 23–26, 2025
Ms. Ma. Concepcion T. Sim, MSc., and thirteen international students.

Research Collaboration and SDG Commitment

The Faculty placed strong emphasis on integrating the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into academic exchanges. Two goals were at the heart of this month’s program:

3

Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3)

Enhancing global health education and promoting applied biomedical research that benefits community health.

9

Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG 9)

Encouraging innovation in interdisciplinary scientific studies and laboratory-based research training.

15

Life on Land (SDG 15)

Promoting sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems through research on Vietnamese medicinal plants and their bioactive compounds.

17

Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17)

Strengthening academic partnerships and fostering shared research between ASEAN universities.

Throughout the sessions, international students participated in laboratory visits, conducted hands-on experiments on medicinal plant extraction and neurodegenerative disease models, and engaged in discussions about drug discovery for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. These experiences connected theory with real-world research practice and received enthusiastic participation from both TDTU and visiting students.

Cultural Exchange and Community Spirit

Beyond research, the participants enjoyed cultural workshops—creating handmade souvenirs and decorating traditional “lucky money” envelopes. These joyful activities promoted creativity, cross-cultural understanding, and long-lasting friendships among students from Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, and the Philippines.

Acknowledgement

The Faculty of Pharmacy sincerely thanks all lecturers and students from participating institutions for making the October exchanges truly meaningful. Together, we continue advancing knowledge, cultural connection, and sustainable development in higher education.
