Ton Duc Thang University, in collaboration with the People’s Committee of Quang Ngai Province, the Department of Science and Technology of Quang Ngai Province, and the Ho Chi Minh City Institute of Drug Quality Control, is organizing a scientific workshop entitled:
“53 Years Since the Discovery of Ngoc Linh Ginseng – Enhancing Quality, Development, and Elevating the National Brand.”

This workshop is held to commemorate the 53rd anniversary of the discovery of Ngoc Linh ginseng—one of Vietnam’s most precious medicinal herbs, which has been recognized as a national product. The event serves as an important academic forum, fostering multi-stakeholder collaboration among universities, enterprises, regulatory agencies, and local authorities in strategies for the conservation, development, and commercialization of this endemic medicinal resource.

The workshop is expected to welcome 80–120 participants, including representatives from government agencies, research institutes, Ngoc Linh ginseng producers, as well as leading experts and scientists from prestigious organizations nationwide.

The workshop will focus on key scientific and strategic topics, including:

• Quality control and standardization of Ngoc Linh ginseng in comparison with other ginseng species
• Research and development of diverse products derived from Ngoc Linh ginseng
• Solutions to improve quality, manage value chains, and prevent counterfeit products
• Branding and positioning Ngoc Linh ginseng as a national product

Highlights of the program include an exhibition of medicinal products, showcasing ginseng-derived formulations, and a signing ceremony for research collaboration and technology transfer agreements between Ton Duc Thang University and industry partners. This marks a significant step toward establishing a comprehensive ecosystem for research, production, and commercialization of Ngoc Linh ginseng in the context of digital transformation and sustainable pharmaceutical economic development.

The workshop will also feature presentations by leading experts in the field of medicinal plants:

• Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Duc – Development of pharmacopoeial monographs for Ngoc Linh and Lai Chau ginseng
• Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Ke Long – Genetic sequencing approaches in ginseng species analysis
• Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Thi Ha – Establishment of quality standards for Lai Chau ginseng
• Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Truong Huy – Application of metabolomics in ginseng quality control
• Dr. Vu Huynh Kim Long – Strategic development of the Ngoc Linh ginseng product ecosystem
• Dr. Vo Ngoc Linh Giang – Application of DNA super-barcoding in identification and conservation

Beyond being an academic forum, the workshop holds strategic significance in concretizing collaborative initiatives between Ton Duc Thang University and Quang Ngai Province. The event contributes to affirming the position of Ngoc Linh ginseng as a high-value national product in terms of economic, pharmaceutical, and cultural significance, while laying the foundation for sustainable brand development in both domestic and international markets.
